Hardcover. Green cloth boards with tan cloth spine, gilt emblem on front board, gilt titling to spine. Gilt top edges, untrimmed fore and bottom edges. Tissue guarded frontis reproducing Albrecht Dürer's line engraving The Knight, Death, and the Devil. Folio (15.75 inches tall). xx pages + 140 leaves printed on one side only (70 pages of text describing each one of the following 70 plates ).

The high quality plates are printed from collotype plates reproduced from the original works.

A collection of famous works of graphic arts from the medieval period to the modern era, including; wood engravings, etchings, mezzotints, aquatints, stipple engravings, lithographs, and woodcuts. The represented artists include; Blake, Callot, Cranach, Daumier, Dürer, Goya, Goltzius, Holbein, Lucas van Leyden, Meryon, Turner, Whistler, Zorn, etc.

VG. Clean and firm. Mild rubbing to boards and spine. Very slight bow to front board. Pages are crisp, clean, and free of markings.
